私たちは、自動車セキュリティの先進的な開発の中で、鍵の使い方について最適なカタチを探究してきました。「ドライバーが車に向かいながら鍵を取り出しスイッチを押す。それを手に持ってドアを開けシートに座り、イグニッションホールに挿し込んで回す。」この一連の動作に滞りが無いことだけに思いを込めてデザインしてきました。リモートキーはその思いの結晶として、2006年のトヨタクラウンに搭載され、その後はトヨタ車のスタンダートとして広く普及しています。2016年の現在は、デザインの考え方をスマートキーに引き継ぎながらも、そのカタチの普遍性から未だ現役で活躍しています。（解説／平野 善久）2006年4月発売

クルマの鍵を持ち、ドアを開錠するボタン操作、キーシリンダーへ挿し込み回すまでの一連の動作がスムーズに行える。機能表示の向きや配列、誤操作の無いように本体とボタン面の差を付ける他、様々な積み重ねがされたデザイン、その集大成がこの鍵である。（選定委員／伊奈 史朗）

Amidst the advanced development of automobile security, we have investigated the best way for car keys to function. The design is based on the core idea of allow-ing a smooth transition between the acts of the driver facing the vehicle, taking out the key and pressing the button, to sitting in the driver’s seat and introducing the key into the ignition hole and turning. The remote key was incorporated into the Toyota Crown in 2006 as the compilation of all these efforts, and has been popularized as a Toyota standard since then. Now in 2016, although the thought behind this design has been passed down to the “smart key” we now have, the universality of the form and function still holds an important role to this day. The process of opening the door and starting the engine can be done in one smo-oth flow, by just holding the key. A lot of thought went into the display of the other functions, the arrangement, and the differentiation between the body and the buttons prevent mishaps, and the culmination of it can be observed through the design.
